Structural analysis of filamentous complexes by cryo-electron microscopy

Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) has become one of the main tools in structural biology over last decade. Nonetheless, details cryo-EM remain unknown to many researchers. microscopes are very expensive. Therefore, owning, maintaining, or renewing a instrument single laboratory university is often challenging. As been done for synchrotrons, it rational introduce shared facilities and allocate beamtimes research teams. Shared systems have established several countries. However, sound knowledge sample preparation essential achieving results using facilities, where availability beamtime limited. In this review, we present current state general users who do not direct access cryo-electron microscope by reviewing achieved structures (mainly filamentous complexes) ways determine them.
